Representation in Brussels
The Tyrol, together with South Tyrol and Trentino, formed the first ever cross-border joint office in the European Union in Brussels in 1995. This form of cooperation between these three historical areas is a good example of the spirit of an open Europe.
The office's objectives include representing the common interests in areas as regional policy, economy, environment, agriculture, social affairs, education and culture towards the EU institutions . Another aim is to highlight the connection between the common interests of the European region and the process of European integration.
The Brussels office has the following specific responsibilities and duties:
- Creation of a network of contacts to obtain information as quickly as possible and to bring our interests to the attention of European decision-makers.
- Representation of Tyrol-related issues through targeted participation and influence on all matters with a direct effect on our region.
- Effective presentation and positioning of the Tyrol through publicity and events.
- Organisation of discussions and information events.
- Facilitating contacts for companies, civil society organisations and private individuals.
- Support for funding bids and applications.
- Providing a contact and coordination point for the joint interests of the Alpine countries.
- Close cooperation with the Members of the European Parliament from the Alpine region, and especially from the European Region of Tyrol-South Tyrol-Trentino, as well as the use of the office as a joint platform.
