Anonymous Fine Notice State
An anonymous fine notice is an administrative fine imposed for certain (minor) traffic offences, such as minor speeding offences. The person driving the vehicle is not identified; the fine is sent directly to the registered owner/vehicle owner. This means that the person who has committed the offence remains anonymous.

Am I legally entitled to an anonymous fine notice?
No, there is no legal right to the issue of an anonymous fine notice.
What should I do if I was not the driver?
You can either pay the fine yourself or sort it out with the driver. Attention: Do not make a double payment.
What should I do if my vehicle wasn’t at the indicated location at the time of the violation?
In this case, do not transfer the amount and wait for the formal proceedings to be initiated. You will receive a driver identification notice, which allows you to submit a statement.
What do I do if I do not agree with the anonymous fine notice?
If you do not agree, do not pay the fine. A formal proceeding will then be initiated in which you can present your objections. The anonymous fine notice becomes invalid.

No legal remedies are available for anonymous fine notices/information letters.
Can I view the evidence (e.g. laser measurement)?
No, there is no right to access the evidence in anonymous fine notice proceedings.

The anonymous fine notice is a simplified procedure, so this question will not be answered.

What should I do if my electric vehicle was recorded for an IG-L offence
Do not pay the fine and wait for the formal proceedings to be initiated. You will receive a driver identification notice with which you can submit a statement and the registration certificate.
Replacement Toll (Ersatzmaut)
Details pertaining to the replacement toll can be found at www.asfinag.at
What can I do if I have paid the replacement toll (late or with incorrect bank transfer details), but have still received an anonymous fine notice/information letter/driver identification notice?
A report was filed because the replacement toll was either not paid correctly or received too late. If the transfer is received too late, ASFINAG will refund the amount minus a processing fee. However, the anonymous fine notice must still be paid. In such cases, a minimum statutory fine of 300 euros applies.
What should I do if I have not received a replacement toll invoice?
As soon as ASFINAG has sent the replacement toll invoice to the address that appears in the vehicle register, it is deemed to have been received. You must then either pay the anonymous fine notice/information letter or wait for the formal administrative penalty proceedings to begin.
What does it mean if I only receive a cancellation notice from ASFINAG
The cancellation notice states that the replacement toll invoice has been cancelled and that a report has been sent to the authority. The replacement toll was not paid, not paid properly or not paid on time.
What should I do if the offence listed by ASFINAG is unclear?
The replacement toll invoice includes a QR code or link that redirects you to the ASFINAG website. The offence is explained in detail there. The evidence can also be viewed there.
What should I do if I had a valid motorway vignette but have still received a fine?
The vignette was probably not affixed properly (e.g. adhesive film was not removed or was not affixed according to the instructions on the back of the vignette).
When you purchase a digital vignette, the licence plate number must be entered correctly and in full.
If a physical vignette was purchased, check whether the correct date was punched.
Driver Identification (Lenkererhebung)
What does driver identification entail?
The aim of the driver identification notice is to identify the actual driver at the time of the offence. In the further proceedings, the driver will be charged with the offence reported. As the vehicle owner/registered owner, you are legally required to provide the name of the driver.
What happens if I can't provide the name of the driver?
As the registered owner/vehicle owner, you are obliged to provide information about the driver. If you are unable to do so, you must name a person who can provide the information. Otherwise, formal administrative penalty proceedings for non-disclosure will be initiated.
How will I know if my submitted driver identification disclosure has been received?
If your disclosure was submitted by email or online form, an automated acknowledgement of receipt will be sent.
What should I do if I have only received the driver identification notice but no anonymous fine notice or info letter?
