General information
The provincial government will appoint those persons as lifting system inspectors who apply for their appointment in writing, providing proof of their professional competence.

Procedure
1. The applicant submits a written application to the authority together with evidence of his/her professional competence. 2. The authority checks whether the applicant can provide evidence of the required professional competence. 3. If the applicant can prove his or her professional competence, the authority appoints him or her as lifting systems inspector by means of a decision. If the applicant cannot prove his or her professional competence, the authority will reject the application by means of a decision.

Required documents
a) Training and extent of practical experience:
1. certificate showing successful completion of a Master’s degree or diploma at a technical university in electrical or mechanical engineering or in a comparable field of study and practical experience of at least 18 months;
2. certificate showing successful completion of a Bachelor's degree at a technical university in electrical or mechanical engineering or in a comparable field of study or at a university of applied sciences in a comparable field of study (such as mechatronics, electronics, mechanical engineering) and practical experience of at least 24 months or;
3. certificate showing successful completion of a course at a higher technical teaching institute in electrical or mechanical engineering or a comparable field of study and practical experience of at least 36 months.
b) The practical experience must be gained at a time close to the training and can be proved as follows:
1. practical experience in lift construction (lift manufacturer, manufacturer of safety components for lifts or installation company) or with a company involved in the installation of lifting systems, where activities in the following areas have been carried out: construction and dimensioning of mechanical and electrical system components, processing of circuit diagrams (in particular control, drive and regulation areas, safety circuits) and installation of lifting systems in the area of mechanical and electrical engineering;
2. practical experience in qualified activities within the scope of the inspection of lifting systems under the direction of a lifting system inspector or a person from the inspection personnel (mentor) at accredited inspection institutes or;
3. practical experience through qualified activities at a notified body for lifts and safety components for lifts or at a notified body for machinery and safety components for machinery.
The evidence required under (b) may be waived if the practical experience is confirmed in another way, is equivalent and evidence of this is provided, in particular by means of certificates of qualified activities in the field of lifting system inspection under the direction of a lifting systems inspector.
