Strategy, focus and expertise
International Cooperation
The Region of Tyrol possesses both the economic means and the necessary solidarity to be a reliable partner in the field of International Cooperation. On 7 September 2021, the Tyrolean government defined the core principles of the region’s International Cooperation in the resolution “Strategy of the Region of Tyrol for International Cooperation “
Strategy
The Region of Tyrol uses various funding instruments to offer partners in developing countries professional support on an equal footing. The region is an active provider of funding that supports externally submitted projects as well as its own projects in the Global South. The Region of Tyrol only supports countries listed as developing countries on the OECD’s DAC list.
Focus
Once per year, the Region of Tyrol publishes a “Call for Proposals” with a certain thematic and/or geographic focus, corresponding to the special competencies of our region. In 2024, the Tyrolean government published a set of guidelines for potential funding recipients.
Tyrolean expertise
The Region of Tyrol is especially active in those areas where it can apply its particular regional expertise. These include:
- Alpine safety
- Sustainable tourism in mountain regions
- Mountain & organic farming
- Water supply & disposal
- Management of natural hazards
- Dual education/training
- Volunteering in civil defence & protection.
Each year, the Region of Tyrol also sets a special thematic and/or regional priority for project funding based on these strengths.
