- Change of presidency in the Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino as of 1 October 2025 – ceremonial handover in Salurn (South Tyrol) to Governor Anton Mattle
- South Tyrol concludes its Euregio Presidency with 181 projects: Euregio Ticket and Euregio Job Exchange to be launched shortly
With its presidency, Tyrol focuses on the borderless strength of the Euregio
With the handover of the key to the Euregio headquarters in the Waaghaus in Bolzano, the transfer of the Euregio Presidency was formally completed today, Thursday. South Tyrol’s chairmanship of the Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino is coming to an end, and Tyrol will officially assume the presidency on 1 October, which will run until 2027. Under the motto “Overcoming borders”, the Euregio, together with partner organisations and the administrations of the three Euregio territories, launched a total of 181 Euregio projects over the past two years during South Tyrol’s presidency. These included the Euregio weather report, the Euregio Museum Year 2025 and the culinary film project “So isst Euregio”.
At their meeting today, the two highest Euregio bodies – the Euregio Board and the Euregio Assembly – set the necessary course for the implementation of the Euregio Ticket and the Euregio Job Exchange. The Euregio Ticket will be launched on 15 December 2025, and the Job Exchange on 1 May 2026. Tyrol’s presidency motto is “Borderless strength – together!”. The objective for the coming two years is to increase the visibility of the Euregio Tyrol–South Tyrol–Trentino and to make its benefits more tangible.
“Overcoming challenges, creating new initiatives and continuing what has proven successful – that was the aim of the Euregio under South Tyrol’s presidency. Together, we succeeded in overcoming further borders,” said the outgoing Euregio President, South Tyrol Governor Arno Kompatscher. In many areas – from family policy, youth and culture to research, mobility and safety in the Alps – Euregio projects were successfully launched or continued. Politically, the search for solutions along the trans-Alpine transport corridor remained a persistent challenge.
Tyrol Governor and future Euregio President Anton Mattle is setting new priorities: “Under South Tyrol’s presidency, the Euregio created new services with projects such as the Euregio Job Exchange and the Euregio Ticket. Tyrol’s presidency builds on this and focuses on the borderless strength of the Euregio. The Euregio succeeds in dismantling the border between Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino in everyday life, but also in people’s minds. We are the most active Euregio in the EU – something that has also been positively noted in Brussels. Now, however, we must also make the benefits more visible to the population. That is why we will make the Euregio a topic of conversation and attract greater attention.” To this end, a wide-ranging campaign has already been launched in Tyrol, designed with pointed messages and a high level of recognition to encourage people to “talk about the Euregio”.
Trentino Governor Maurizio Fugatti – represented at the meetings by Deputy Governor Achille Spinelli – thanked the outgoing chairing region: “With its presidency, South Tyrol has provided further impetus for a united and recognised Euregio that has established itself as a strong driver of cooperation in the Alpine region – a vision that points towards the future.”
Travelling and working without borders
With the launch of the Euregio Ticket at the end of the year, citizens will be able to travel without borders for one year by train, bus and cable car throughout Tyrol, South Tyrol and Trentino. The subscription costs 750 Euros and is therefore significantly cheaper than the combined annual passes of the three regions. It is composed of the existing subscriptions for Tyrol (Climate Ticket Tyrol) and South Tyrol (südtirolmobil Fix365 in the Euregio design), which are also recognised across the entire public transport network in Trentino. The ticket will be available via the websites of the Tyrolean Transport Association (VVT), südtirolmobil of the South Tyrolean Transport Structures AG (STA) and Trentino Trasporti. The design of the ticket cover was also presented (see downloads section).
The Euregio Job Exchange will enable citizens in future to search for employment across borders in all Euregio territories. At the same time, companies will be able to advertise vacancies throughout the Euregio. This is made possible by linking the existing job portals “alle jobs” of the Tyrol Public Employment Service, the “eJobBörse” of the Province of South Tyrol and “Trentino Lavoro”. The administrations exchange their job vacancies with one another, making labour markets in the respective other territories more visible. The Euregio expects this to result in a wider reach for job advertisements, increased labour mobility and greater competitiveness.
