Questions about the FRIDA platform
Why does FRIDA exist?
FRIDA creates a standardised registration system for crèches, nurseries and after-school care centres throughout Tyrol. What's more, you can register conveniently from home, digitally and easily. The date of registration within the statutory period from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 has no influence on your child's possible ranking!
Who can I register with FRIDA?
Eltern bzw.
Is it compulsory to register a need via FRIDA?
Registration should certainly be completed digitally via FRIDA whenever possible. All registrations are collected in a shared database. In exceptional cases, it is also possible to register using a paper form with the local authorities or private providers.
What happens if I do not register my need via FRIDA?
- If a registration has been made with the local authority or a private provider, it is transferred to the FRIDA registration platform like any other. However, this increases the administrative workload, which should be reduced so that more time is available for discussions and personal contact.
- If the child already attends a facility and will continue to do so, the previous year's registration will automatically be reused. (PLEASE NOTE: A transfer from, for example, a crèche to a nursery school or from a nursery school to an after-school care centre constitutes a change of facility even if the provider remains the same, and requires a new registration.)
- If no registration has been made via FRIDA, the local authority or the provider, and the child does not already have a place at the facility, admission is not possible.
For what period does the registration of a need apply?
Registration is carried out for the coming childcare year – currently the 2026/2027 childcare year. Registration is for children who are attending a facility for the first time or who are transferring to another facility (for example, from a crèche to a nursery school). If this is not the case, the registration will remain valid beyond this year.
Between 1 December 2025 and 31 January 2026, parents or guardians can edit their registration details at any time.
Does the date of registration have an influence on the ranking?
No. The principle is NOT "first come, first served" – it does not matter on which day within the period the application is submitted.
How do I know that my registration has actually been sent and received?
The status of each registration can be viewed on the FRIDA registration platform. Once the application has been submitted, its status changes to "Submitted" and the application is automatically assigned to the relevant authority. You will also receive an automatic confirmation email.
What deadlines must be observed – what happens when?
Registration period (1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026)
During this period, registrations for the coming childcare year must be made. Registration after the deadline is possible, but in this case a placement cannot be guaranteed.
Ranking by private providers (1 February 2026 to 1 March 2026)
During this period, direct registrations with private and corporate facilities will be processed.
Ranking by public providers (1 March 2026 to 1 April 2026)
During this period, registrations with public providers (local authorities) will be processed. An allocation will be made by the end of this period at the latest.
When will you find out which place your child has been assigned?
This may vary from provider to provider. The person who registered the child will receive an email as soon as a place in a facility has been confirmed. In any case, however, all applications submitted by the deadline are expected to be processed by 1 April 2026.
Can you make multiple registrations for a child?
Only one registration per child is possible. Multiple applications will be automatically registered and will not be considered.
What information does FRIDA request?
Parents or guardians enter the following information on FRIDA:
- Personal details and details about the child.
- All information required for legal ranking in accordance with the Tyrolean Child Education and Childcare Act (TKKG).
- The anticipated level of care required.
- The desired facility or facilities. Two preferred facilities may be selected – private and public facilities are equally included.
Will FRIDA replace parent-teacher meetings/introductory meetings?
No. Personal discussions remain an essential part of educational practice. They are crucial for a successful educational partnership. During the registration process via FRIDA, parents will also be informed that personal discussions may take place.
Questions about the right to be allocated a childcare place
What is the aim of the right to be allocated a childcare place?
The aim is to ensure that every child in Tyrol has access to affordable childcare that meets their needs from their second birthday onwards.
IMPORTANT: FRIDA, the digital registration platform for your child's childcare place, is for all children aged 0 to 15! Only the right to be allocated a childcare place applies to children from their second birthday onwards.
Who is entitled to this right?
This applies to every child who will turn two years old in the coming childcare year and who has been registered within the statutory registration period.
What will change as a result?
The right to a childcare place consists of a variety of measures to strengthen Tyrol as a centre of education (e.g. additional subsidies for providers and local authorities). For parents or guardians, there will be a change in the registration process, in particular, which has been standardised throughout Tyrol. Previously, a paper form had to be completed and submitted to the local authority or facilities. Registration is now completed digitally via FRIDA. Please note: The date of registration within the statutory period from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026 has no influence on your child's possible ranking!
Who is responsible for implementation?
The local authorities and private providers are responsible for implementation. In this regard, they are supported by the state with a coordination office and a digital platform.
When should implementation be completed?
The right to placement applies starting with the 2026/27 childcare year (from 1 September 2026). Registration via FRIDA will be possible from 1 December 2025 to 31 January 2026.
