Development cooperation
The Region of Tyrol supports development cooperation projects, development education and awareness-raising projects in Tyrol, as well as international humanitarian aid projects. There are five types of funding available. The biggest funding volumes (20,000 to 100,000 Euros) are available for “Tyrolean priority projects”, followed by “Tyrolean initiatives” (up to 20,000 Euros), development education and awareness-raising projects and international humanitarian aid projects. In addition, the donation matching scheme allows private donations of up to 4,000 Euros to be matched by public funds from the Region of Tyrol. All types of funding are governed by specific guidelines and applications and must be submitted exclusively via the online form.
Here you can find the online application form for international development cooperation funding.
Further information and documents (guidelines and reporting templates) for each type of funding are available here:
Matching donations of private persons
We all share a personal responsibility to improve the state of our world. For example, individual donations, such as birthday promotions and charity events, are an important contribution to Tyrol’s International Cooperation with countries from the Global South. The Region of Tyrol supports these activities by matching individual donations. To be eligible for matching, donations must range between a minimum of 1,000 Euros and a maximum of 4,000 Euros. There are no specific deadlines for this type of funding, but each applicant and project partner can only benefit from one matching of donations per calendar year.

Matching donations of legal persons
In many instances, we can best tackle the ambitious task of improving the state of our world by working together in organizations and groups. This is why the Region of Tyrol supports donation campaigns of legal persons, such as corporations, educational institutions and associations, by matching their donations. To be eligible for matching, donations must range between a minimum of 1,000 Euros and a maximum of 4,000 Euros. There are no specific deadlines for this type of funding, but each applicant and project partner can only benefit from one matching of donations per calendar year.

Tyrolean priority projects
The Region of Tyrol sets an annual development priority based on the special competencies of Tyroleans. This yearly priority serves as the starting point of the Tyrolean priority projects. The Region of Tyrol funds projects thematically or geographically linked to this annual priority with a sum ranging from 20,000 Euros to 100,000 Euros. The duration of the project must exceed one year but must not exceed three years. The annual deadline for such funding opportunities is 1 July. Any applications after this deadline will not be considered.

The Region of Tyrol also fulfils its responsibility to create a better and fairer world by funding projects that are not geographically or thematically linked to its yearly development priority but still adhere to the general and strategic principles of Tyrolean development cooperation. Funding for these Tyrolean initiatives ranges between 10,000 Euros and 20,000 Euros per project. Their duration must not exceed two years. The annual deadlines for such funding opportunities are 30 April and 31 October. Any applications after these deadlines will not be considered.

Tyrolean projects for International Humanitarian Aid (IHA)
War, pandemics, natural disasters and other grave crises - unfortunately, they are all too familiar in today’s world and affect a large number of people across the globe. These people often need quick and comprehensive aid due to such unforeseen emergencies. Therefore, the Region of Tyrol provides funding for projects that contribute to the mitigation of acute distress arising out of emergencies. The corresponding funding calls are published at short notice. Respective projects are supported by budget funds made available specifically for this purpose.

Development education and awareness raising (DEAR)
“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world” (Nelson Mandela). Accordingly, it is essential to raise the awareness of international development domestically in order to realise a sustainable and just world abroad. This is why the Region of Tyrol provides funding for projects aimed at educating domestic civil society and for North-South and South-South exchange initiatives. The annual deadlines for such funding applications are 30 April and 31 October. Submissions after these two deadlines will not be considered.
